This year marks a strange reversal of fortunes. BlizzCon 2012 will be a no-show, and SOE Fan Faire just might take its place as the fan gathering of the year. It certainly seems trying, with its spiffy name change to SOE Live.
It’s clear to me why they shed the medieval-sounding name. They want to attract — or at least not alienate — the DC Universe Online playerbase, which exploded after the game went free to play. I don’t think the superhero crowd would fancy attending a “Fan Faire.” (No offense to EverQuest fans, but feel free to roll your eyes in disapproval.)
