Freshly unearthed by the hardworking folks at MMO-Champion, this introductory cutscene for newly rolled Pandaren characters warns of a looming disaster about to befall their turtleback island home.
Visually, it employs an aerial sweep spanning the starting area before coming to a close-up finish of your character. I may be reading too much into it, but I’ve always thought of this technique less as a showcase of the environmental art — which are well done as far as craggy mountains go — and more as an emotional hook. Because when a camera pans across a breathtaking vista then zooms into your character, it is a subliminal message: You are the focal hero of this grand new adventure.
